Tool Time Friday | Firefox add-on you can’t do without

Firefox’s ‘MeasureIt’ is useful and very easy to use.

measureit-01.png

It places a small ruler icon at the left side of your status bar and when you click on the icon you get a crosshair cursor and your browsing  page fades out.  MOve over to the desired area or object you want to measure and drag out a box over it – the width and height of the box will be displayed in pixels close to the box.  To get out of MeasureIt, use the Escape key and the page reverts back to normal.

Simple.  And that suits me fine.

Tool Time Friday | Adobe’s Done It!

Some months back on Tool Time Friday, you were afforded the chance to get ‘parts’ of Adobe Photoshop for nada.

Now you can get the whole enchilada for nothing.  Zero. Zilch.

Here’s some info from the press release:

“The maker of the popular photo-editing software Photoshop on Thursday launched a basic version available for free online.

“While Photoshop is designed for trained professionals, Adobe says Photoshop Express, which it launched in a ‘beta’ test version, is easier to learn.  User comments will be taken into account for future upgrades.”

So go shoping – Photoshoping.

Once downloaded, you can make a DVD or a CD as this site will also let you listen to the song without the video.

I find this site a lot cleaner that YouTube, and so I’m giving this to you.  You’re welcome.

Tool Time Friday | Too Poor to Pay Attention?

If you haven’t been stopping by Tool Time Friday then you’re missing the boat.

In one of last Friday’s comments, ‘Writing Advice” turned us all on to a wonderful tool.

It’s called Jott. That’s it and nothing more.

Here’s a snippet of what they have to say:

We talk an awful lot about hands free texting while driving, but as I just learned this morning thanks to Engadget’s investigative reporting, injuries occurring from texting while walking are on the rise. They are working hard to combat this issue in London by padding lamp posts.

Who needs to look down while they text? Only the people thumbing out those messages. We might not have the cure for UK texters (yet!), but for U.S. and Canadian texters, Jott is an easier, cheaper, and let’s admit it, more aesthetically pleasing way to prevent walking into a lamp post while texting. Keep those heads up Jotters, you are once again ahead of the safety curve.”
