Continuing our Finding Your People Series, I’ve compiled a list of resources to help you connect to people on Facebook, much like the list I made to go with the Twitter slideshare deck.
It’s important to understand how very different Facebook is from Twitter, and not just in terms of how many more potential people you can reach.
Twitter has lots of tools that plug into it for the express purpose of helping you connect to it, some that are native to the application.
Facebook has some of these too, but way more important than the apps is an understanding of how to reach people on Facebook.
As I said in my first book on Facebook in 2007, the most effective way to market to people on Facebook – whether you’re now using a Facebook page or your own profile – is a very subtle type of marketing. It’s not quite networking and almost not marketing at all (outside of ads of course).
The people who “get” this or catch on to how to do this at some point succeed wildly at leveraging Facebook, whether they are a micro-business or a huge enterprise. People who don’t still think marketing is a numbers game – spam enough people and some tiny minority will respond and a tiny subset of that will buy.
A little extra work can magnify your results a hundredfold. I do mean that literally.
But enough of my preaching.
The list.ly embed below will take you to 23 articles, tips and resources from myself and a few peers.
Some are on finding new people, others are on reaching the people you’re already connected to more effectively.
I’ll be adding more to this list as the week progresses. Feel free to add yours too – it’ll help me moderate them in faster if you respond in the comments with why you think your suggestion should be included.
I’m fine with you using this to promote your own articles and blog posts as long as you have theories that I can test.
