Here are the steps:

1- Find your audience.
2- Find and research a sore point.
3- Find and research an existing expert.
4- Start at the easiest point and go for the widest exposure.
5- Start again at the narrowest niche and get the most specialized exposure/
6- Leverage both into maximum exposure.
7- Repeat monthly, at least.

I need your help in thanking someone. All it’s going to cost you is a link, and maybe an email. If you want, you can even make money from it.

You might have checked your email yesterday and seen a message from me about Evergreen Traffic, and read about my story. Some people I know had never heard about that part of my background, and if you’re one of those folks, it probably explains a lot. If for no other reason than to satisfy your curiousity about me, go by and skim the page on Marlon Sander’s site.

And yes, that’s what I want you to link to, talk about, etc, but let me tell you why first.

What I really want to talk about first is how this whole thing happened – how I ended up suddenly having one of the people I admired first and most online decide that I needed to revive my product line, and how he dragged me, kicking and screaming, into creating another product that explains the core of the traffic system I use on my own sites.

You might know Marlon Sanders from The Amazing Formula, a product that’s been on the market as long as I’ve been in online marketing. It’s one of those things that, if you lost it, you’d buy it again.

For me, having him suddenly come into my life as a customer is kind of like being on American Idol and having Stevie Wonder ask you to sing at his birthday party. Yeah, I have a rep of my own that I’ve earned through my talent — but he’s the Real Deal, you know? If I was to stay in this business that’s the kind of success I’d be shooting for.

Think of the person you look up to like that in your profession, coming up to you and saying, “hey, we’ve got to get your product line back up and cranking- you’re talented!”

Can you imagine?

I was really… resigned to retirement status.

I still have some lose ends to tie up and was hoping to get some of my friends together to help me with a fundraiser to get that going and maybe some residual income. But it’s been hard to coordinate, and with me not knowing until I wake up in the morning whether or not I can conduct life semi-normally, it’s been tough to commit to interview times.

Cindy, Violet, and Morgan are a HUGE help, but it’s gonna take five people to take over what I was dong at my peak. That’s not to brag, it’s just the long and the short of the issue. So I’d just about given up hope of ever doing the part of my life that I love the most, which is sharing the details of the information about traffic, search and marketing that you find on this site.

I would think to myself: At least I have my consulting clients – for the most part, if I can talk and coordinate research with other folks, I’ll always have that. But there’s something about being able to reach masses of people with good information.

Anyway, not even a week ago, I get a Facebook message and a friend request from Marlon. I thought, this has to be THE Marlon Sanders, because most of the folks who would spoof him aren’t old-school enough to remember him.

And it was.

And he was writing to tell me that he thought I was talented, and why was all my stuff down?

So I told him.

And long story short (or at least less long), he convinced me that I needed to keep on sharing what I know, starting with a new product. And that’s how Evergreen Traffic came about, through the kindness of Marlon Sander’s heart.

I hemmed and hawed and made excuses but he cut through my BS and got me working. I know some people who would have modified what I told them and sold it as their own. But the successful people are Never like that.

Isn’t that funny?

Marlon has resurrected my dream. I’m still going to have to retire for health reasons, but because of him I’m going out with a bang instead of quietly fading away. But until that day, I can create my best work and not have to worry about certain nutty details. I won’t bore you with them, but suffice it to say that without flexibility on those points, it made it hard for me to be able to make products as I’d like.

He has also helped me to remember what I needed to keep in mind the most.

In all these issues I’ve been having, I can’t say I forgot about you… I always think about you. What I forgot was how much you guys … love me, to put it in Marlon’s words.

Article Marketing still works for those who use it properly and not just as a links booster. We’re getting really close to the other side of the hype machine, where most people are realizing the hidden benefits of having a regular pace of marketing with articles, in a myriad of publications.

Myself, I stopped marketing my site with mass distribution of articles for about a year when I realized that publishers were having trouble digging out my article from among the riff raff. By riff raff I mean piles of articles that were poorly written and published merely for link exposure, rather than for traditional purposes.

In one of the best articles I’ve read on Article Marketing in years, Bill Platt examines whether or not we have “ Really Seen The Death of Article Marketing?“.

Some powerful information from this conclusions:

But, no matter how we cut it, we have in fact passed “the end of article marketing as we once knew it.” Here is why:

* Some people will never have the chance to read this article and make their own mind about whether what I say has merit, or not.

…fact is that many people have quit using article marketing as a promotion technique. This outcome will only strengthen the hand of those of us who continue to utilize article marketing to promote our websites.

I’ve been trying to come up with some unique information for those of you who might be having a wee bit of trouble on topics. I mean, how many times can you post about a particular subject before you run out of gas. (The exception to this rule is Tinu, and there’ll only be one of her in the whole universe. Ever!)

But for us mortals, it’s a different story, and that’s the truth, whether you own up to it or not!

So, without further adieu, here’s some places you can wallow around in for as long as you like. Thanks to OEDb.

Research can be a time consuming and sometimes tedious task. How can you make it easier for yourself? While there is no complete substitute for a good old-fashioned trip to the library, you can find a wide variety of information with many research tools. Here are a few sites listed in alphabetical order. You might not be familiar with some of the resources, but they can help supplement and improve your research.

Artcyclopedia – If you’re looking for information on artists or art movements, Artcyclopedia is a great place to begin. The site provides links to museums worldwide where works by over 8,200 artists can be viewed. While most of the artists listed are painters and sculptors, you can also find photographers, decorative artists, and architects. Any art or art history research can benefit from this site, at least as a starting point.

BioMedCentral – BioMedCentral is an archive of over 170 biology, chemistry and medical journals. The articles published on BioMedCentral are all peer-reviewed to ensure that they are accurate and appropriate for use as reference materials. A majority of the materials linked to on the site are free, but a few journals do require a subscription service to access.

Digital History – An valuable resource for those who seek information on U.S. history, Digital History offers an up-to-date textbook, as well as essays on film, private life, and science and technology, and visual histories about Lincoln’s America and America’s Reconstruction. The site also makes use of primary sources such as gravestones, historical advertising, and letters to give a more vivid picture of American History. The site also includes numerous reference materials including an extensive audio-visual archive. And if you have a question you and you can’t find the answer, there is a feature that allows you to pose questions to professional historians. The site might just turn your research into leisure time.

FindArticles.com – FindArticles has the text of articles from about 500 print periodicals with coverage back to 1998, and usage is completely free of charge. While some of the more popular magazines aren’t included on FindArticles, the collection is broad enough to be useful for many topics. It’s no substitute for most library article archives; however, it can be a great resource for simple article searching.

INFOMINE – INFOMINE is a virtual library of Internet resources. It contains useful tools such as databases, electronic journals, electronic books, bulletin boards, mailing lists, online library card catalogs, articles, and directories of researchers. It functions similarly to a search engine except that the results are limited to academic sites and resources. Be advised that not all resources it supplies are free of charge, but many that are fee-related can be found at your local library or university.

Internet History Sourcebooks – This Website offers a collection of public domain and copy permitted historical texts. Topics include ancient, medieval, modern, women’s, and Islamic history among others. So whether you’re looking for ancient Greek texts or information on everyday life in 17th century France, these sourcebooks can provide a valuable and timesaving resource.

Internet Public Library – The Internet Public Library is the first public library of and for the internet community. The library is a collection of online resources that are organized by subject, everything from accounting to social sciences. This Web-based library features standard library services such as reference, cataloging, educational outreach, exhibits, government documents, special collections and archives, serials, and online-only services such as a list of blogs. It can be a great place to start your research as the librarians who created it have spent a great deal of time organizing and finding the best internet resources for your use.

Intute – Intute provides access to Web-based resources for science, technology, arts, humanities, and social sciences. The database contains well over 100,000 records and continues to grow. Subject experts review old records regularly to ensure that information is as current as possible.

Librarians Internet Index – The Librarians Internet Index is a Website created and maintained by a group of librarians, very similar to the Internet Public Library. It has a searchable directory of Internet resources, over 3,000 total, on a wide variety of topics. While originally created to focus on the state of California, the site has evolved to cover a much wider area.

Library of Congress – Most people have heard of the Library of Congress, but few realize the amount of information it offers online. The American Memory Collection contains a wealth of materials on American history including thousands of photos, maps, documents, and even sheet music. In addition, the site offers online exhibits, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for there is online resource to ask a librarian. For anyone interested in American history, the Library of Congress is an invaluable resource that can provide you with a wealth of information not available anywhere else.

Perseus Digital Library – This digital library provides information on the ancient world, including archaeology, atlas, texts and translations as well as English Renaissance and the American Civil War. Not all the resources are in English, in fact a majority of the ancient texts remain in their original language. You can however, limit your search to only resources available in a given language.

Project Gutenberg – Project Gutenberg, aptly named after the inventor of the movable type printer, provides web access to over 20,000 books. It is the largest collection of free books on the internet. Works include everything from “The Notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci” to A History of China by Wolfram Eberhard. If you still can’t seem to find a text, the site links up with other free online providers, giving you access to over 100,000 books in total. If you don’t have time to make a trip to the library, Project Gutenberg can be a great way to access books without leaving the house.

Research Guide for Students – This Website might not appear to be much at first, as the layout is bare bones; but it’s actually an extremely good resource for researchers. It provides guidelines for the technical aspects of writing a paper such as layout and style guides as well as a plethora of links to other research resources on just about every topic imaginable. And for those writing about classic literature, it also provides resources that are work-specific.

U.S. Government Manual – If you’re looking for any information about the finer points of U.S. Government, your best bet for research is the U.S. Government Manual. It provides comprehensive information on the agencies of the legislative, judicial, and executive branches as well as semi-official agencies, international organizations in which the United States participates, and boards, commissions, and committees. It also includes the basics of U.S. governmental documents: the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
