I’ve been incommunicado for a few days. My hands have been more sensitive than usual and swollen, so I haven’t done much blogging in the last week, despite being in a Fantastic mood. (As you know if you are one of my Facebook friends.)
One of the things that took place while I was out is that John Reese put out his excellent Blog Rush program. I vote yes on it, though, for obvious reasons previously stated, I’ve yet to implement it.
Many folks have concerns that only the bigger sites that already have traffic could benefit from it, but here are a few articles from two of my pals, Andy Beard and Yaro Starak, that should put your minds at ease. (I’m not linking to Blog Rush purposely, in the hopes that you’ll first read their articles, and only join after making an educated decision.)
Click on the blog post titles to read the articles (in case you can’t tell they are links in some browsers, a CSS issue I keep meaning to fix).
- Blogrush – Free Blog Traffic – In depth Review – This is the one to read first if you have no idea what I’m talking about.
- Blogrush – 7 Critical Mistakes Andy is spot on with these and corrects some fallacies in thinking about Blog Rush.
- BlogRush – Will It Increase Your Blog Traffic? – Yaro has a less optimistic take.
There are also a bunch of articles out there that think that BlogRush is rubbish. For my part, having worked specifically on traffic related issues for both small and large companies, not just on search but on ALL aspects of traffic, I can tell you that my unbiased opinion, without having tried it as yet, and without asking you to sign up for it through me, is that it’s a good idea that has built on what several other similiar systems have offered in the past.
But there are plenty of people who disagree with me, and that’s okay by me. In fact, here’s a list of people talking about Blog Rush on Sphinn, a great search marketing social news site. Just remember, before you choose who to listen to on any traffic issue, think about what their background is in that specific area. Then do your own testing and tracking.
And remember, you should NEVER rely on only one method of traffic to get visitors to your site, blog or not.
I’m going to do a bit of testing and tracking on my own and give you my results. So consider this a preliminary review.
