Okay, this isn’t really search, per se, but in my thinking it counts now that Yahoo owns MyBlogLog.
I noticed this tool late last year when a friend pointed it out to me on a technology blog we both read, I think it was TechCrunch. Essentially, it lets you see who has come to your blog recently in real time, that is a member of the MyBlogLog free service. If that sounds boring, think about this.
What if you could network with other people who blog, just by reading their blogs, or just by finding out they read yours? What if you could find out what other authorities in your field silently frequent your blog – what if they could state somewhere, in public, that they’re a fan of your blog.
Really neat, and it’s free. I’d pay for a version that would let me host the community you can create through MyBlogLog on my own server, so that I could re-capture some of that exit traffic.
*edit: Apparently you can do that, Tech Crunch does. And there is a paid version. Too bad they don’t take Google Checkout, I’d have signed up today…
