If you find Microsoft buggy, or have other reasons for not using it, then you might find OpenOffice.org useful. It’s free even for commercial use.
I’m more inclined to look for used copies of MS Office software on Amazon, but it’s lovely to have the option. Great if you find yourself stranded on the road unexpectedly, and without the proper tools.
