Today in Web Pro News, there’s an article about how blogs are being used to spam search engines, and in particular Google.
Blogger Being Used To Sp m Google :
“‘This really is no different to a person setting up a network of sites to spam with. The blogs are going to have very low PR unless serious effort is put in to them. If serious effort is put in to making each a good blog, then fine, nothing wrong with that. If no effort is put in, their PR will remain low and the IBLs (in-bound links) will count for very little.’ ”
This is part of the reason that I suggest anyone who blogs and has their own domain name, use the FTP option in Blogger to have the pages sent to your site. Making several blogs to create anchor text that points to your site is a temporary cheat – and that’s IF it works at all.
A better solution is to create a topical blog, and fill it with real content. You can still use your keywords in your blog posts, etc, without being gratuitous or spamming the search engines.
