Free Traffic Tips :: Non-Profit Sundays – You Can Help a Famiily with Modest Needs

The site that inspired me to start Non-Profit Sundays is Modest Needs.org.

At this site, you can make a small or large donation to help a family that has a pressing need they can’t pay for.

I’ve always been of the belief that no matter how desperate your needs may be, there is always someone worse off than you. Imagine that you could help someone who is currently in a position you may have once found yourself in, and all they needed was a little help to get them over the rough patch.

That’s what this isite is all about. So I had the idea that all of us who are small busniess owners, or striving to be, could do two small things.

1- Make a donation at their site. It doesn’t have to be a huge one, just whatever youi can spare at the moment, or a portion of the day’s proceeds They accept donations as small as $5.. And if you can’t spare that (been there! It happens.), just tell members of your ezine, or your site about them.

We could also

2- Just place a link to them on our pages, or tell a friend about them. You can email them this post if you like, by clicking on the little envelope below each post.

When I made my donation, I found that they have an excellent buyer reputation at PayPal – you’d have to be logged in to see it.

Here’s a quote from the site:

What is Modest Needs?
Modest Needs is a tax exempt, grass-roots charitable organization dedicated to the proposition that no request for help is insignificant.

Since May 2002, the active members of the Modest Needs community have been reaching out to working families who have asked for help because the burden of a small, unexpected expense has proven too great for them to bear on their own.

Without our help, these families will soon be left with one option: to enter the public welfare system – and the devastating cycle of poverty.

At Modest Needs, our goal is to keep these families working by providing them with the short-term assistance they need to remain self-sufficient.

To date – thanks entirely to the support of private individuals – Modest Needs has kept 1279 working families from entering the public welfare system by remitting payment for $239,147.67 worth of unexpected expenses on behalf of the families we’ve had the funding to assist.

Those expenses have ranged from the fee for a GED test to the bill for an auto repair to the cost of burying a stillborn child.

Modest Needs’ average grant is just over $180.00 per family. But because our grants keep working families working, they’ve now returned more than $7.7 million in earned income to the pockets of families who have remained self-sufficient because of them.

Such a simple, fantastic, and powerful idea. If just ten percent of the people who viewed this posting on this site or through the feed made the minimum donation – or referred someone making a minumum donation – we could raise $10,000 if we all did a little something today.

So that’s it for Non-Profit Sunday, I hope you enjoyed it, and I’ll see you tomorrow for Money Mondays..
