I’ll probably be sending my blog posts through with my blog publisher, which means most of the posts won’t be live again until Monday. Until I have the chance to visit with you again, I hope you and your family have a save and happy holiday.
I agree with Gotham Chopra at Intent Blog when he calls the current atmosphere around the Thanksgiving holiday in the States a “quantative indifference”. There has been kind of a well-meaning yet ill-advised political-correctness backlash against Thanksgiving in recent years.
Personally, I’ve decided that I’m going to honor this day as one to be Thankful, Giving, Humble and Repentant. Even if one is offended by how the holiday came about, perhaps aspiring towards a wider sense of goodwill, with the actions that back it, will help bring the warmth of Thanksgiving back to life.
We can’t un-do wrong that may have occured in the world before we came along, but we can make a pact with ourselves to do our best to do good in the world, and make a genuine effort to right any past wrongs we may have committed as best we can- kind of like that show “My Name is Earl“.
Where ever you are and whatever you believe, my hope for you is that you are surrounded by those you love. May you experience that sensation of being cared for, drawn in from each gaze you meet, and flow it back out through your heart back to its Source.
