It’s been a rough few weeks in Free Traffic Land for many, with the two major search engines doing updates at about the same time. Many have seen dips in their rankings, and with the holiday season coming up, are looking for more ways to get traffic to their sites.
So this week, I’m going to focus on ways that you can compensate for a loss in traffic, highlighting many of the traffic techniques I’ve discussed before in a bit more detail, and a few I haven’t touched on at all.
As part of that, on Search Engine Day, we’ll be discussing recovery efforts for those of you who have lost rankings in Google and Yahoo in particular. Can you build an algoritm-proof site? I have, and you can too, if you’re willing to think about search a little differently and play fair with the search engines.
My one caution to you is this: it isn’t magic. The free traffic techniques and methods discussed on this site take time and work. Some of them will can get you results within a few days or a week if your site is already in good shape, but you’ve got to implement them with care, and often more than once if you want them to keep working.
If you have more elbow grease than money, these tips will point you in the right direction, and you can do more research for them online. For more in-depth study, secrets and tips, I’ll provide links to other resources, some free, some not, that will help you get up and running faster or more effectively.
