Google Analytics :: It’s Like Getting Urchin Stats Free

Okay. It actually IS a version of Urchin Stats.

Free.

Clip from Google Blog ==> “The same service (which used to be called Urchin from Google) used by dozens of Fortune 500 companies is now available to every business on the web. We’ve integrated it with AdWords, it’s easier to use –- and it’s free. We hope that Google Analytics will help improve the overall web –- one site at a time.”

Clip from Google Analytics ==> “Google Analytics tells you everything you want to know about how your visitors found you and how they interact with your site. You’ll be able to focus your marketing resources on campaigns and initiatives that deliver ROI, and improve your site to convert more visitors.”

Clip from Search Engine Watch Blog ==> “The On Demand product is free for anyone. If you don’t have an AdWords account, you’re limited to five million page views per month (which is a lot). Need more? Make a $5 one time deposit, open an AdWords account, and you’re set with unlimited page views.

The software based product remains fee-based. Google said that might change, but there were no immediate plans at the moment.”

Clip from Eric Peterson in Jupiter Research Blogs ==> “Google Analytics is essentially an update of the Urchin application they acquired in March of 2005, rebranded and integrated into the Google AdWords application. Shown here, the application looks very much like many of the leading analytics applications popular today, having dashboards and marketing, merchandising and site optimization reports.”

Thoughts ==> I loved Urchin, I know I’ll love Google Analytics. I’m somewhat of a stats geek, so to a point, anything that lets me know how to best serve my visitors is gonna get rave reviews from me. More on my initial user experience in uno momento.

PS- Am I the only person who thinks the correct spelling of Analytics never looks right? Not for any dirty reason… it’s just like, how, when I’m tired, the word “each” looks kind of suspect too…
