Google Testing Longer AdWords Descriptions

It’s Search Engine Day again. I missed last week while I was waiting for a few places to take my feed off their sites… not all of them complied at first, so I went on a mini-strike until they did. There are still other sites that duplicate my content without a link back to me, or naming the source they pull from, but I found a way to deal with them that I’ll let you in on in coming weeks.

For now, let’s go on with Search Engine Day. It’ll be short and sweet for now, with more news later on in the week.

In catching up on some reading, I found an announcement at Search Engine Roundtable that discusses the test Google is doing for longer descriptions.

By way of Search Engine Watch Moderator, OptimizeOnline, Google Launch Phase 2 of Longer Ad Text Beta Programme. Basically, Google AdWords will up the description character limit to 200 and then test the CTR rates of those ads versus the original ads.
