Google Webmaster Central Gives Us The 411 on the Supplemental. And Video in Parenthetical

I adore the word Parenthetical.

I have hi-jacked the video if that’s all you want to see…

But first you will have to scan my words! HA! You’re trapped! All your eyeballs are belong to me!

Anyway, on the way back from Crazyville, where I am mayor, I read this at the Google Webmaster Blog:

The distinction between the main and the supplemental index is therefore continuing to narrow. Given all the progress that we’ve been able to make so far, and thinking ahead to future improvements, we’ve decided to stop labeling these URLs as “Supplemental Results.” Of course, you will continue to benefit from Google’s supplemental index being deeper and fresher.

I think that’s fantastic news for small business especially, because, more and more, the most focused surfer is looking for information in what may be relegated to the supplemental results area. Of course, supplemental results are hardly meant as a punishment per se, but it can feel like it.

And here’s the video, it’s about 4 minutes long.
