LinkedIn Traffic Challenge Sign-Up. And Another thing.

There’s no earthly reason why my picture is on this blog post. I just love that shot of me and think it should be on everything. Toothpaste. Fingernails. Everything. Hate having my picture taken but love this shot – go figure.

In the traffic challenge battle, LinkedIn won. You can thank John Lee Thomas for the update – I normally wait until I have all my ducks in a row to announce things.

After talking to him I thought you’d appreciate the heads-up. For free traffic challenges to succeed, I have to build a plan of action for us to follow together, and it takes a while.

Again, this means that we’re just going to do LinkedIn FIRST, not that we aren’t going to do another video challenge.

You have to be selected from the sign-up list to be one of the spotlight businesses that gets publicized as part of my updates.

However, anyone can follow along for free. Everyone who wants to participate has to sign up so we can support each other’s efforts. There’s no email involved, but you cannot get group perks or support without signing up. Do NOT ask me later if you can get a perk or my help if you don’t sign up for the challenge. I will be mean to you.

The idea of the challenges is to learn the basics of a site, and then apply some of the more common advice given about the site, to see how the theories bear out in reality.

I estimate we’ll be getting started around the 1st week in October, but there are no firm dates yet.

The other thing(s)

Facebook has made a lot of changes that small business and entrepreneurs can take advantage of – and yes, I’m doing video on all of this.

In all this news about Facebook, there have been some  special things that Google has been doing that have faded to the background. I personally think Google loves it when this happens and times things with other major announcements so they can avoid the “don’t change it!” hissy fit that we all tend to have when they move our cheese.

So be expecting a Google Day and a Round-Up of peer articles on the New Facebook. (If you have an article to contribute to my list, please respond with the link in the comments. If it has new/different perspectives that are relevant to our discussion, I’ll link to you.)

Cute, I had wondered if my comment hadn't posted back when this post went up...

So, yeah, I'm in.

I haven't hardly done anything over there and still managed to close on a gig for a new client. I'm looking forward to playing with the traffic generation side of things.
