SO - Let’s kick the first Mulligatawny Monday with a life lesson.

Pigs Get Feed, Hogs Get Slaughtered!

Many of you probably have heard this adage. Some of you might not even know what I’m talking about.

For those of you who don’t know what this means, here’s a life’s lesson.

There are those people who only think of themselves. It’s me, mine, I. It’s never, his, hers, yours, or theirs.

We all have known people who are selfish, self-centered, egotistical, thinking that only they are the center of the universe. Hardly ever do they act in an altruistic or humanitarian or charitable manner. How sad. They are truly missing out on the whole concept of what it means to be human. They have no soul.

In our lifetime, we have all met people who have fit into one or the other category. And it seems like we are finding less and less people who exemplify the kind, gentle and caring attitude. Again, how sad.

There are a couple of sayings which go -”The More You Give, The More You Get” and “The Amount You Give Will Be Returned To You Tenfold”.

Giving to others who are in need is an easy thing to do. This is probably why Cindy and I have been successful in all the endeavors we have entered into. No bull!

By giving, it doesn’t always have to be money. Some people just throw money at a problem, but money rarely fixes what is wrong.

Giving can be simple things, such a lending a helping hand, having someone over for Thanksgiving Dinner when you know that person (or persons) have no family nearby.

Giving can be a smile.

A hello.

Taking interest in someone else’s situation.

Acting as a sounding board for those who need advice or just want to vent.

Stopping at the side of the road when you see someone’s car has broken down.

IF WE ALL took the time to help one another, whether it be a big thing or little thing, just imagine* how much better the world could be. Doing something for someone with no anticipation of their returning the favor. That’s true giving.

SO, if we give, help, assist, lend a hand to all of you, with no thought of recompense, we will be fulfilling our responsibility as humans. Hopefully, you all will act in kind. Better yet, we know you will act in kind.

* Imagine - John Lennon song released in 1971. IF you haven’t heard it - I think you should.
