If the manual process of reciprocal links to get backlinks, or incoming links, seemed a bit grueling to you, and you’re curious about why I say I rarely do so, you’ll want to read this post, and listen to the podcast that will follow later today/tomorrow.
Think about this: what if you could get either anchor links (the kind that use your keywords), or raw links, for the keyword phrases you most desire, on pages that are related to your site’s topic?
What if you could change a few things about your site and get a few hundreds of these links legitimately, without upsetting other site owners, or search engines?
What if you could then use those links to build association between offsite content and your web pages?
What if it didn’t cost thousands, or even hundreds of dollars to execute?
You might THINK you know the method I’m talking about. But it’s not any type of black hat SEO, nor is it frowned upon. In fact it’s not even just ONE type of website promotion technique, it is many. You could use any one of them or all of them to help you get more links pointing back to your site.
Okay. I’ll tell you one of them now. But only because I’ve mentioned it before.
That’s right, Chipmunk, one of the three ways you can get relevant links back to ya is Blogging.
Granted, you should NOT be blogging just for the links. Or for all the ways blogging makes optimization easier (if you know what you’re doing).
There are way better reasons and utilizations for blogging, so if you’re only focused on how it can get you better search engine results, you’re seeing maybe 12% of the picture.
BUT since that’s our topic today, you should know that each blog post you create, with a minimum of effort, if you know how to configure your blog, can create an optimized page of content for your site. Of course, as we’ve already stated, one day you’ll run out of directories – the what?
Blogging affords you many other friendly linking opportunities, which we’ll get to in a moment.
And as far as link building is concerned, when you add a blog to your site, you’ve given yourself a reason to get at least 100 more directory links pointing back towards you. And about 60% of those links creates a page about your site that links back to you.
Now if you were to create a spam blog, that really wouldn’t help your life much. Spam blogs – and most spam techniques don’t work. Yes, some people will tell you that they are only hoping to get a few cheap Adsense clicks, or draw untargeted traffic…
I don’t know about you, but if that’s a apammer’s idea of “working”, they must be using a different dictionary than I am. To me, that’s like saying that scratching your nose with your backside works.
Even if you can bend yourself into that precarious position, if you have two hands, you’re just nuts to do it.
And it’s the same thing with blogging… the same with linking – if there’s an easier way to responsibly get links from responsible trackback, relevant tagging, and meaningful commenting that just takes a little extra work, then hell, why wouldn’t you?
Do ya just Like doing things the hard way?
Well. That’s enough of my ranting for now.
We’ll get into the other two methods in the podcast. I don’t know quite when that will be, but I promise it will be in the next 24 hours.
