Yahoo has started a special Podcast search, and it’s not a minute too soon. This is the start of something big for business sites who are prepared to deliver their marketing message in audio.
If you’re not familiar with podcasting, Yahoo gives it to you straight:
“Think of a podcast as a radio show. Each show consists of a series of individual episodes that you can listen to how you want — on your PC, using your MP3 player, or with just a web browser.
If you’ve never listened to podcasts, you’re in for a treat. Sports, comedy, movies, food, politics, music, books, speeches, walking tours, whatever — you name the topic and you’ll find podcasts about it. Not only do you have incredible choice, you can listen whenever and wherever you want.”
Of course, to podcast, you don’t necessarily need to have a full-blown radio production with lead-in and fade-out music… but if you decide that it would be useful for your company to BE the media in your visitors minds, think of how powerful that is…
Instead of buying time on a business talk show, have your own, over the web. When people search for your topic, there you are. Give mini-classes that show the need for your products. If you offer your podcast in an MP3 compatible format, you can have your prospects full attention – even when they’re not at their computer. I burn presentations to listen to when I’m running errands, or going for a walk, all the time – and I’m not alone.
Burning audio from the web is not a new thing… the influx of free audio is.
But I digress.
