I met Marci Rosenblum on Facebook. When I meet people online, I usually like to say that I’ve e-met them, as in “nice to e-meet you.” But with Marci, she is so giving that the spirit of her sharing seems to jump right off the screen.

When we started the Open for Web Business group over at Facebook, one of the central purposes was to have a loose affiliation of people woh believe in and practice open sharing, seeing it as an advancement, not something that holds you back.

Marci is the best example of that in our group so far. If you’ve gotten traffic because of our group it was probably because of her — each day it seems like she’s come up with new and interesting links to browse, things most people miss or conversely, use so much that they forget to share.

BlogReporter is a social networking website where users can submit interesting blog entries from around the internet based on different categories. Stories get voted on by other users and based on the number of votes, the stories get promoted to the front page. Stories that are on the front page will get LOTS of traffic and exposure.

I don’t know about LOTS of traffic, but it looks damn interesting.

(Just now, I felt like one of those people who goes on TV and does and interview and slips up, then says “Whoops. Can I say damn?” Then I remembered, hey, this is my blog, I can say whatsoever I want. And that I really need to fall asleep for crying out loud.)

RSS Toolbot is the site of the day. Combine several feed links into one page to read. Works like a simplistic aggregator (feed reader) – great if you have just a couple of feed you want to read.

GuruNet.com is my new toy. Get results from A9.com, Yahoo, Google, Google News and more, all on the same page.

The Google site of the day this Tuesday is WebProWorld.com. I’ve chosen it for its forum about Google, the Search Insider Reports, as well as the fact that they talk about other search related topics. Register and start lurking – you’re sure to find good information from multiple perspectives.

For Google Tuesdays, the Google site of the day is Google Blogoscoped. Features fun Google tools from time to time and monitors many of the changes in the Google world, inculding Gmail.

Just something a little different on Fridays – the Site of the Day will be projects – mostly not-for-profits, that I feel we, the Internet community should throw our support behind. Show these 2nd and 4th graders some support.

I have said it before, and I stand by my word. Alexa Internet is important. Are they 100% accurate – no. Do they figure into a search engine’s algorithm? It’s never been proven.

But for all the Alexa naysayers, there’s a second search engine where an Alexa rating will factor into your results. (The first one being ExactSeek.com.)

And the site that could be an even bigger threat to Google and Yahoo than MSN? A9.com – Amazon’s search engine that incorporates the Alexa rating into the displayed results.

Am I nuts? Am I alone in thinking they might be a contenda?
