I don't agree with JW Bobbink at all. I think the most important factor is that you need a lot of quality backlinks pointing - without nofollow - to your website. Of course quality content is needed to succeed, but I think you have always need to write quality content, because you get more conversions with quality content.

Pagerank isn't the most important ranking factor anymore. If you want to rank forever, you really need quality content.
