Tool Time Friday | Cool and Smooth, Baby

SmoothWheel scrolls the document smoothly when scrolling the mouse wheel (or using keyboard arrows).

smoothwheelSupported applications: Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, ChatZilla, KompoZer, Flock, Songbird (as well as the deprecated Mozilla, Netscape 8+, NV|U).

NOTE: The version on SmoothWheel’s homepage might update more frequently than the version on this page, and isn’t limited with maxVersion.

SmoothWheel offers an enhanced and configurable version of the built in smooth-scroll. It uses some unique algorithms for smoothness and adaptive behavior (scrolls fast or slow according to the “intention” of the user). Allows to read long web pages easily. You can actually read WHILE scrolling. Kind of like the credits at the end of a movie, but controlled by scrolling the mouse wheel. Works with text-boxes and drop-down boxes too.

To configure in Mozilla/SeaMonkey, enter in the address bar: chrome://smoothwheel/content/prefoverlay.xul.

IMPORTANT: regardless of your rating, please use the comments system on the SmoothWheel’s home page to discuss possible bugs and ideas.
