Who doesn’t use a screen saver? It’s been ages since they were an absolute necessity to prevent the burn-out of a monitor. And yet, we still use them, because they entertain us, enlighten us, educate us.
And those are the three reasons you should consider marketing with one.
Examples:
I have decided to motivate my subconscious mind to get better faster. When I’m well, I can fly again. When I can fly again, I want to go to Hawaii for a week. So I like to pull up travels sites that are targeted to Hawaii, or pull up my friend’s Maui Me site and look at random pictures. I read about where I’d like to go, and visualize relaxing on the beach whenever I get tense.
Now, wouldn’t it be cool if I could automate this with a free, clickable screensaver? Then I’d be able to visualize myself in Hawaii more often, with less effort — and click a link that tells me how to book my flight, or price a rental home.
Now what if my business is tax software? It could be a screensaver that changes every day with reminders of things I can deduct, maybe with a new lolcat or Blaugh cartoon to make it entertaining. And when I have questions? There’s a link embedded in the screensaver that takes me to my accounting firm’s site, or to a reminder to buy related financial software.
I’m turning these tips into 365 methods with links to resources and ideas to implement them. Comment if you want to be in on one of the three test copy spots left.
