Today’s concept starts with my own shocking secret.
I hate – *HATE* listening to audio online. I’d rather pay to download a transcript. Most of the time when I’m posting on the road I’m in some hotel where I’m lucky I can get online, let alone listen to an audio. Plus, I’m a really print-oriented person.
But. I Love to talk. Get me going and you just can’t shut me up.
Here’s another confession : I make and record my own poetry CD’s on my computer. The biggest shocker is that people buy them. I don’t know if it’s the fact that I used to perform (though I haven’t performed publiclly in about two years), or that I learned how to find royalty-free music to back me up and splice it together with my own voice using Acid Music.
Ok, you caught me. I’m lying. I know full well why people buy my poetry CDs.
It’s because I developed an audience and I market to them well. Big secret right?
But here’s the thing I learned – if you sell infoproducts, this is as essential piece of advice that you should tattoo to the inside of your eyelids.
People buy CDs like they’re crack, even if it’s the exact same material in a book, they’d rather listen than read.
Not everyone is a great writer, so for some low-budget entrepreneurs, ebooks are out.
But everyone can talk — or get someone else to talk for them.
And I’ll admit it. Even though my first sale of my own poetry included audio – I forgot this one crucial part of the equation.
SO. Where is this verbose chick going with this?
I’ll say it street style : Ya Need ta Git Yo Audio On.
And I’m going to help you, free. If you miss these next few posts before I lock my archives down, don’t get mad at me.
I’m going to show you resources to create your own audio files easily. To be fair, I’ll give you the free, do-it-yourself techie way, and the cheap “Tinu, I’m not a techie” way.
Then I’m going to show you where you can get a free audio seminar that will give you ideas about the possiblities of audio and how they can increase your conversion rate of visitors to sales. We’ll end with an example of my own audio selections – first, a long one specific to marketing. Then I’ll let you listen to some of my poetry, so you can witness the quality of audio you can make in your own home.
Finally, I’ll give you a free audio tip that will give you a head start on how you can use audio as a traffic draw to your site – a special implementation that surprisingly, isn’t being used widely yet, despite the demand.
Before we continue, let me stress one thing to you: You do Not need to be in marketing specifically to use these tips – audio, implemented properly, can help any site.
Back in a sec.
