I have to come back to the Video Playlist tools. I plan on interviewing both of the contacts I have, so it will be worth the wait I promise. I’ll have, at minimum, snippets in the blog. Scout’s honor.
Okay. So one day last week a friend who I partner with on larger corporate projects calls me up and is like, I’m live, baby. I’m thinking, what is this nut talking about now. Turns out he was using UStream to broadcast live from his computer. I twittered about it, then I tuned in. At some point we figured out that if I Skyped him, I could be the co-host via voice if let my voice go through the speakers or the speaker phone (depending on how I called of course).
We spend all night talking and planning to take over the world, (great for me, because I was having one of those pain nights where I can’t sleep.) Then the next day, he has this new show, titled from a joke we had. We proceed to start doing some corporate planning again, and this guy pops into the room, modest cat. We talk to him, and a few more people come by, one of them is pretty high up in the UStream.tv Team, on tech support - talk about your warm welcome.
The first guy eventually talks about us getting interviewed by a guy who apparently does this kind of thing frequently on Ustream. The host does it, and before you know it, we find out the first cat is somehow involved in Chris Pirillo Live and we’re on the site. Chris Pirillo is actually there at one point, right before I go to bed. Turns out they use UStream for the live show and that’s how they ended up seeing us.
Instantly traffic went up tenfold.
I don’t know if this would happen to you, and can only speculate what the eventual monetary gain could be - the stars were pretty much lined up specially for us that one night, that one time, and our conversation just happened to be interesting, plus apparently I have a “phone sex operator” voice.
Still, isn’t it funny how one minute you can just be shooting the isht and the next minute you’re given access to a dream spot?
The other night I saw Scoble, live on the Zooomr show. I already told you about Chris. Neither of these shows are extremely fancy, though the quality of information you can get, and the ability to ask questions through the chat is amazing.
I don’t know what the possibilities are with Ustream vs other services that do this like BlogTV.com, and there are three more you can read about at Robin Good’s Excellent resource site, Master New Media (which you should totally subscribe to) - I’ll have more extensive thoughts on another day. I’m beat.
