Traffic Thursdays: Reputation and Traffic
Hey, You're New Here! We love new people.

It’s another simple thing. The better your reputation is, the faster your sales will come. If you have people who already have proof that you can be trusted landing on your site, your initial conversion can be higher, even when your sales page isn’t as good as it could be.
Don’t get me wrong, sales copy is important. But last month when I didn’t have time to put up a real sales page, some good referrals on July 5th earned me about 20 sales in the space of three days, even though I didn’t have a sales page for the product up. For the first three days, my page basically said, “since you guys won’t leave me alone about getting a peek at this new book, you can buy it in pre-production mode for a discount. I’ll update you with a new copy until the final release.”
I didn’t advertise at first, and when I finally did, I was only placing test ads, so I would have some tips for my affiliates.
The converse is also true. When you have a bad rep, people will go to check you out, and never come back.
So forget what they told you, Trust is the real currency on the Net. And your stock plummets when your word can’t be trusted, especially when all your words are just misinterpretations of someone else’s words.
