So I was reading a press release that explained how Blog Search Engine increased their traffic by ten percent, by creating a Toolbar.
“A toolbar?” I’m thinking…
As you probably know, I’ve long been in favor of shifting your promotional focus from toolbars to RSS - it’s much easier to get someone to add a link to a feed reader they already have, than it is to get them to download a toolbar that doesn’t save them any work.
Unless the Toolbar is a feed reader pre-loaded with your feeds.
I’m still testing this out and I’ll be back with a review. If you’d like to tinker with one before you commit to the process, try mine - Free Traffic Tips Toolbar - Download.
Now if this works the way it’s supposed to, the applications for it are limitless.
So, prelminary testing.
Pros:
It’s free. And you know how I feel about free.
You can promote your site in their directory. Also free.
You can upload your logo to their site.
Not only can you make a button that features your own feed, you can create another one using their system - a nice introduction if you don’t understand the concept.
Cons:
If you don’t have a logo, you get that weak text like the one on mine, which you can preview in the upper left hand of the site.
The feed doesn’t load into the toolbar immediately.
I’ll have more as I play with it.
