How do I explain the site I’ve been playing at for the last hour?

If you’d rather see for yourself than hear my explanation, then take a look at Tinu on 43 Things. Start an account, and if you find it fun and useful, stop by and comment. It’s free, of course.

My Explanation

Okay, how to explain 43 things… it’s kind of a community goal setting blog. You start an account, and name a goal you’d like to set. You can then either invite other people to do the same, or click on one of the pre-set goals at the bottom of the page to find out how people who have set similiar goals.

When you click their names, you’ll see their entries - which often contain links to sites they use for research in helping them to attain these goals. You can also subscribe to their RSS feeds and follow their goals in progress.

Used Carefully this can also serve as a marketing tool, and yes, bring you free traffic. What you’ll want to do is browse the existing goals, and find ones that you’ve already accomplished. Click on the button that says “I have done this” in the upper right hand corner.

Then for your entry, just speak from your heart about how you reached the goal, and leave a link to an article you write, or your blog on the topic - the links can be made live with regular html.

Use this tip sparingly - the site is fairly sophisticated as far as its technical function. I’m sure they have some way to ban users, since you will need to create a free account to participate.
