I'm a pretty tolerant person when it comes to free stuff not working -- it's when I pay for something and it doesn't work that I get upset. On the other hand, basic day to day functionality of any tool is the least we can expect. And right now, other tools are doing a better job of simple uptime than Twitter. It reminds me of when Technorati first started breaking down. I was a die-hard Technorati fan but I finally had to admit that even a great tool is useless if it's not operational when you need it.
