Vote for the Most Relevant Search Engine

Sometimes you hear about an idea and think “the time for that has Definitely come”. That was my reaction to reading about RustySearch in the Internet Search Engine News Database.

Apparently the editor of SE Roundtable (and president of Rusty Brick) thought this up just a few weeks ago and has already followed up with Rusty Search.

And what is Rusty Search? How does it work?

A visitor like you or me, goes to Rusty Search to do a search, not knowing if the results ar being pulled from MSN, Yahoo, Google or elsewhere. Then we have the chance to vote whether or not we felt that search is relevant.

The race is currently too close to call according to the article over as ISEDB, but just imagine if the results over a year where published to help you chose the best search engine for your needs… or if the search engines actually monitored and quietly paid attention to this study. Maybe what you and I believe is “relevance” is something intangible the search engines aren’t really measuring for… or maybe they’re close but this study will pull them around the bend.

If enough people participate? I guess we’ll see.
