Geekzone: IT, mobility, wireless and handheld news:
“Yahoo! Inc. has announced the launch of the Yahoo! Search Developer Network a new resource that provides developers with access to Web service application programming interfaces (APIs) to Yahoo! Search products and Overture’s (which will be re-branded Yahoo! Search Marketing Solutions) API programs. Additionally, the Yahoo! Search Developer Network provides application developers with sample code and tools to share ideas and expertise, as well as the ability to showcase applications written and distributed by developers. ”
I have my issues with Yahoo’s wide solution, but it’s not like they’re Microsoft – pre-deploying a myriad of products that aren’t fully business ready. Rather, they seem to find solutions that stick, roll them out in a short-term Beta, get that plate spinning and move on to another project.
You know me, I’m all for beta-testing, and beta-pricing, at that. But the product should be useful from the day it hits the market, and keep getting more useful as time goes on.
But getting back to Yahoo… they may be the number two search engine, but it looks like they’re trying harder. What’s more, as you can tell from the Yahoo search blog, they do a great job of keeping themselves in the discussions that go on with the webmasters, as well as the public.
Quite frankly, if Google doesn’t fix this Autolink mess, I can see Yahoo coming up from behind. And after that, I doubt they’ll rest on their laurels ever again.
