Web Video | The Numbers Make Sense Part One

So, a while back, I said on The Blog Business Success Radio Show with Wayne Hulbert that traffic from videos was going to be huge for businesses this year that are paying attention.

Internet marketers and affiliate marketers in particular could take great advantage of videos. Why is that? Because, for example, it’s much easier to get a top ranking for a highly searched term like internet marketing that is hard to get on the first page of Google for with video content than it is for document content.

There’s 297 million competitors for internet marketing in Google’s regular web search. There’s only 1007 competitors in Google Video. And no, the number of visitors isn’t quite comparable yet.

But you have to realize, by this time next year, the average searcher is going to be trained to see if there’s a video for what they’re looking for, not just a document or web site. That’s pure speculation on my part, but I dare you to disprove it.

What makes me so certain of this, is how the Web has changed each time the consumer’s ability to access it has made a large change.

When we used to have to sit at terminals and try to gopher the Net on a 14000 modem, not too many folks were interested. Most of the stuff on the web were simple documents in black and white with few pictures.

What’s changed since then? We’ll talk about that next.
